COMPANY

Founded by people who understand light, and the lack of it.

A photon that arrives is a signal. So is the one that never comes back. Holladay, Utah.

00 / WHO WE ARE

The company

We are a small group of scientists, executives, and problem solvers. Between us, more than a hundred years working in high tech, most of it in Silicon Valley.

We have built cameras, sensors, data centers, and companies. We have taken things public and sold things. We are doing this one because what people wear is the last big category of everyday human data that machines still cannot read, and we know how to build the instruments that read it.

01 / FOUNDER

Patrick Connolly

Patrick starts companies that turn into industries. Four so far, three sold, two of them bootstrapped.

Stockpoint, a fintech he bootstrapped, went public and was bought by MarketWatch, now part of Dow Jones. COLO.com, data centers, raised $750 million, with Deutsche Bank and Merrill Lynch leading $500 million in debt and a $250 million Series D ahead of the S-1. Menlo Ventures and Accel backed it. It sold to Hutchison Whampoa. Obscura Digital, surround media, he bootstrapped to over 100 people and $36 million in revenue. MSG Entertainment bought it, and its technology became the base of the Sphere in Las Vegas. MyEvents, a social network backed by Sierra Ventures and Deutsche Bank, is still running today.

Along the way: holograms for the King of Saudi Arabia. A hologram movie screen built into the transom of a yacht, on a boat designed by Philippe Starck. The largest UHD display technology in the world. Academy Award winning motion capture. The award winning technology inside the innovation center at DuPont's headquarters in Delaware. His own office at Obscura, which Fast Company named the coolest office in the world. Real-time vector rendering, camera-to-projector calibration, game engines of every kind, procedural art, audio beamforming. He has built for some of the biggest artists on the planet, and for people who wanted the most advanced technology that existed, or didn't yet.

He is CEO of SpectralSense. The company is in Holladay, Utah.
